Yoga by Kimberlee Bethany yoga products

The Sanskrit word "Yoga" means "Union." Yoga is more than physical exercise -- it is a unification of body, mind, and spirit which is designed to improve physical health through exercise, improve mental health through stress relief, and improve spiritual health by fostering a personal awareness.

Pelvic Yoga:
Kimberlee developed her Pelvic Yoga program after providing full-time caretaking services for her maternal grandparents, both of whom suffered from incontinence. When Kimberlee's mother developed incontinence at the young age of 50, they refused to accept the problem as a normal consequence of aging. They were fortunate to find the services of Kathleen Roth, a licensed physical therapist in El Paso, Texas, who specializes in pelvic rehabilitation. Kimberlee attended all of the therapy sessions with her mother. Kimberlee integrated the theories of pelvic rehabilitation into a total body yoga program to develop Pelvic Yoga. Pelvic Yoga is ideal for men and women of all ages, and has helped many individuals prevent or improve conditions of incontinence, strengthen their pelvic floors for sexual enhancement, and improve functioning after pregnancy and menopause. The Pelvic Yoga program has been approved by Brenna Katherine Lee, M.D., a regular yoga practitioner, as well as Kathleen Roth. It has also been endorsed by Marcy Ouellette, MD and certified Ashtanga yoga teacher, and several yoga instructors, including the renowned teacher David Swenson.

Kathleen Roth, LPT, is a member of Thomas K Waugh & Associates, Physical Therapists, in El Paso, Texas. Thomas K Waugh & Associates can be reached at (915) 585 - 1888  or (915) 593 - 8555.

Chair Yoga:
Kimberlee developed a chair-based yoga program to meet the needs of her senior citizen and disabled clients. Yoga has the capacity to improve health and well-being on all levels of being, even if you can't sit on the floor on a yoga mat. Kimberlee's Chair Yoga students range in age from 20-something to 90-something. Her students have included a strong and healthy 69-year-old police cadet, as well as individuals with canes, breathing tubes, and stomach tubes. Students see improvement in their overall health, losing weight, improving mobility, and often easing symptoms of chronic conditions such as arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, and Meniere's Disease.

Power Yoga for Empowerment:
As a teen-ager and young adult, Kimberlee suffered from eating and image disorders, including anorexia. A personal yoga practice was an important part of her recovery. Yoga has a strong capacity to encourage self-esteem and deepen a sense of self based on ability and potential, rather than appearance. Yoga encourages overall well-being of body, mind, and spirit. Teen-agers and young adults who practice Power Yoga for Empowerment receive a strong physical work-out that challenges their muscles while cultivating mental focus and spiritual strength. Power Yoga is great for adults of all ages; it is a strong physical work-out that challenges the total person. In a Power Yoga for Empowerment work-out, you will sweat your way to strong, lean muscles; deeper flexibility of muscles and mind; and mental focus, balance, and enhanced self-esteem.

Partner Yoga for Family and Marital Enhancement:
Yoga helps cultivate both personal union and relational union. By practicing yoga with your loved ones -- whether your parents, children, friends, or spouse -- you can deepen your ability to work together and strengthen your sense of connection.

Yoga for the Christian Spirit
Sometimes, Americans with a strong Christian faith wonder if they can practice yoga, an ancient form of exercise which originally came out of the Hindu faith and culture. Indeed, some yoga classes are very Eastern-oriented and may therefore be inappropriate for certain individuals. Kimberlee has developed a yoga style compatible with the Christian faith through her work teaching yoga in churches. The intention of yoga is to quiet the mind and thus enable a deeper connection with God. In a Yoga for the Christian Spirit session, a moment of prayer is offered in the beginning of practice, and a moment of thanks is offered at the end of practice. Many Christians have found their religious faith strengthened through the practice of yoga.
